The Barn Tavern, despite its carriage house appearance, once housed work horses for the former D. Foss & Son Woodworking Mill. Before the turn of the century, Dover Landing was a viable working waterfront. As many as 300 Schooners and other vessels navigated the Cocheco River to the landing each year. The barn was restored by the Mairs family and opened in December of 1998. Many of the original features have been retained, including; hay feeders, grain pipes, manure trap doors and knob & tube wiring. Four horse stalls were once where the bar is now.
